Mission not impossible for Muller (...)

Yvan Muller reckons winning the FIA World Touring Car Championship for a fifth time will be “complicated but not impossible”.

The quadruple WTCC champion trails Citroën team-mate and last years’ title winner José María López by 55 points prior to next month’s JVC KENWOOD WTCC Race of Japan at Twin Ring Motegi.

But Muller isn’t giving up in his pursuit of more WTCC glory despite a troubled weekend in Portugal last month.

“I lost some points but that’s racing,” the Frenchman told the WTCC Over the Line programme. “Unfortunately qualifying went wrong for me and when qualifying is wrong it’s complicated to catch some good points for both races. But in the end I did a podium and P7 in the first race and honestly after qualifying I couldn’t expect much better. The championship is not finished, it will be of course complicated but not impossible.”

JVC KENWOOD WTCC Race of Japan takes place from 11-13 September.
