Russia, MAC3: LADA completes perfect day with team time trial triumph
After claiming a historic 1-2-3 in qualifying
LADA completed a perfect day at Moscow Raceway with a first victory in the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s Manufacturers Against the Clock (MAC3).
Shortly after claiming a historic 1-2-3 in qualifying for FIA WTCC ROSNEFT Race of Russia, Nicky Catsburg, Gabriele Tarquini and Hugo Valente returned to the track and displayed the prowess of the LADA Vesta WTCC in the wet.
They posted a time of 4m04.355s in the two-lap Tour de France-inspired team time trial competition.
Honda drivers Tiago Monteiro, Rob Huff and Norbert Michelisz went next but fell short of the LADA benchmark by 0.649 seconds.
As leaders of the Manufacturers’ championship, Citroën ran last but were clocked over three seconds off the pace after Yvan Muller struggled in the conditions to keep up with José María López and had to let MAC3 debutant Tom Chilton past.
